In 2004, Esther and Richard Brunning decided to hang up their hectic city lives and take the plunge in running their dream café. The opportunity presented itself in the north Essex village of Mistley with its magnificent views across the Stour river estuary over to neighbouring Suffolk.Mistley Quay Café is renowned for its locally sourced quality fresh ingredients which means a delicious home-cooked and varied vegetarian menu to cater for all tastes. In the four years the café has been established it has thrived with its inviting lunches, freshly brewed coffee and varied teas. The cafe also provides a popular community venue for various events ranging from themed international food nights to lazy Sunday breakfasts.
The cafe is situated within the Mistley Quay Workshops which provides space for local craftspeople including a luthier, harpsichord maker and stained glass artist. The café plays host to a gallery of local artwork which reflect the beautiful natural surroundings.
